Instead of just catching indoor air pollutants, the Molekule device is claimed to actually destroy them by breaking them down into harmless elements.
Billed as the world’s first molecular air purifier, the Molekule uses an innovative technology, Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO), to oxidize air pollutants such as mold, bacteria, viruses, allergens, and VOCs, which essentially destroys them. This nanotechnology air purifier-based system is said to completely eliminate pollutants up to 1000 times smaller than what a HEPA filter catches, which could deliver relief for those suffering from allergies and asthma, as well as help reduce the symptoms of exposure to poor air quality, such as headaches, fatigue, nausea, congestion, and more.

According to the company, the PECO technology used by Molekule, which uses free radicals to oxidize pollutants, was developed over some twenty years by one of the founders, chemical engineering professor Yogi D. Goswami, who was moved to address the problem of indoor air pollution due to the health struggles of his son, who suffered from both allergies and asthma.

The company claims that its technology has been extensively tested by independent labs, which provided verification that not only does the Molekule safely remove air pollutants, but that the byproducts of the system are completely harmless elements that normally exist in clean air, such as small amounts of water, CO2, and other trace elements like nitrogen. The air pollutants aren’t trapped in a filter (which may result in them being inadvertently re-released into the air), ensuring that only clean air is released back into the room. And unlike some other air purifying technologies, which employ ozone (which can potentially damage lungs and worsen respiratory diseases, as well as irritate the lungs of healthy individuals), the Molekule device actually breaks down and eliminates ozone in the home.
The Molekule just launched publicly, and the company is offering an early-bird price on the air purifier ($499, which is said to be $300 off of the future retail price).
